SYNOPSIS: Band Together strides along with the Kent County Community Marching Band to discover a journey of camaraderie, commitment, and community. Loud music and soft voices reveal what is good about America. Don’t believe everything you hear from the shouters. America is doing just fine thank you - just listen to those who live there.
“We’re not supposed to have favorites, but I can’t help it. Band Together is my favorite of the entire 2011 lineup! Kolaja’s little gem left me looking anew at ordinary people. His camera carefully and lovingly looks at a beautiful part of human nature: what people do for others. The first time I watched it, I felt like the whole band was marching through my living room just for me. How did Kolaja do that?”
~ Margaret Tessier, CFF Executive Director
“Like a modern-day Norman Rockwell, the Eastern Shore's own Kurt Kolaja makes the familiar new and stunning as he reveals the heart and magic of the everyday. Band Together takes the pulse of America and finds a healthy beat"
~ Doug Sadler, CFF Artistic Director
KURT KOLAJA DIRECTOR: Kurt has over thirty years experience in film and video production. While on assignment Kurt has been tear gassed in Washington, DC, pelted with fried chicken at a NASCAR race in West Virginia, and attacked by hookers in Paris. He has carried his camera into locker rooms, operating rooms, down coal mines, and into deserts. He was there for first launch of Space Shuttle Columbia. He trembled to pin a microphone on the chest of Sophia Loren. Band Together is Kurt’s second movie to screen at the Chesapeake Film Festival.
